Fong Suet Ying is an English teacher. She has been coached in stage movements by Tang Suet Mei and Yeung Kim Wah respectively, and singing by Kong Yi Siu and Tai Shun Wah respectively. Being the champion of a Cantonese Operatic Singing Contest as well as a Cantonese Opera Competition in Hong Kong, she was awarded the Outstanding Achievements in Arts Education in Schools in the Teacher Category by Hong Kong Arts Development Council in 2000.
In 1991, she founded 「Sing Fai Cantonese Opera Troupe」 and a Cantonese Opera Group in her school in order to promote Cantonese Opera. In 2001, she was invited to perform 「The Peony Pavilion」 and 「the Princess of Cheung Ping」 in England, which was a great success. In 2003, she set up 「Sing Fai Cantonese Opera Promotion Association」, a definitely non-profit registered society, aiming at cultivating both Cantonese Opera audience and performers. Miss Fong has devoted her time, energy and money to train Cantonese Opera talent. In 2005, she wrote some English songs with some Cantonese opera song melodies and wrote the first Nicam Cantonese Opera excerpt with a view to promoting Cantonese Opera in different ways.
